Deep rest

About I AM Yoga Nidra
Yoga Nidra is a guided contemplative practice traditionally described as “yogic sleep.” Practiced lying down, you are guided through a series of simple instructions while the body rests deeply and awareness remains present.
There is nothing to achieve and nothing to perform. You don't need to concentrate, control your thoughts, or try to create a particular state. You simply follow the guidance and allow yourself to rest.
For me, Yoga Nidra is an invitation to step out of doing for a while. To give the body and mind time and space to soften, to become quiet, and to experience what it is like simply to be.
The practice can be deeply restful, but rest does not have to mean sleep. You may remain aware throughout the session, drift in and out of awareness, or fall asleep. There is no right or wrong way to experience it.
The practice
I AM Yoga Nidra sessions are guided online, or in person when available.
A session lasts approximately 40–45 minutes. You practice lying comfortably on your back, with whatever pillows, blankets, or other supports you need to feel at ease.
Before the session, make sure you have a quiet space where you are unlikely to be disturbed. Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing, and allow yourself some time afterward to return slowly to your usual activities.
I AM Yoga Nidra sessions are available upon request.
Important
People with untreated schizophrenia, sensitivity to psychotic breaks, or under the influence of alcohol and drugs should abstain from practicing Yoga Nidra.
